Warehouse/Wholesale Clubs
These membership-only clubs can save you significant money! They may have the best prices for higher-dollar purchases even after you factor in the cost of the membership! And if you live within driving distance to one of their locations, it even makes more sense to become a member and start saving on all of the everyday items you need. If it’s sold by one of these clubs, you should be getting some of the best—if not the best—prices available.
Lowest-Price Guarantees and Price-Matching Guarantees
After you’ve made a purchase, check around the web over the next couple of days to see if the item is being offered at a lower price from the merchant you purchased from or from any other merchant. If you find a lower price and the website on which you purchased the item offers a lowest-price guarantee or a price-matching guarantee, then follow their instructions to see if you might be able to get the difference refunded to you. Lowest-price guarantees typically cover some period of time after you’ve made your purchase. Check the merchant’s terms and conditions.
Abandoned Shopping Carts
Add the products you want to buy to your shopping cart on the merchant’s website. Then, simply leave the website with the items still in your shopping cart. In other words, abandon your cart. For this to work, you need to be logged into your account on that website, or to have at least made it through the checkout process to the point where you’ve entered an email address and/or cell phone number so that they can contact you through either email or text (whatever the merchant uses to identify you on their website). If the merchant offers discounts to users who’ve abandoned their carts, the merchant should contact you in the next twenty-four to forty-eight hours and possibly offer you a discount to entice you to complete the purchasing process.
